Stay Safe & Informed
Essential information for using drink testing strips effectively and staying safe.
Important Notes
- A positive result may deepen in colour over 10–30 seconds. If you're unsure, do not drink—it's safer to throw it away.
- Red wine and blackcurrant drinks can stain the test strip and may cause false positives.
- Drinks with high acidity (e.g., lime or grapefruit) may cause false negatives.
If You Suspect Drink Spiking
- Immediately tell someone you trust—such as a friend, bartender, venue staff, security, a medical professional, or the police.
- If you're alone, get to a safe location and call someone you trust or the police.
- If you need medical assistance, inform responders that you believe you've been spiked and describe your symptoms.
